I have always been drawn to photographing people even if I try to avoid this.

I have a fascination with people, and it excites me to meet new people - hence this project which focuses on meeting and photographing strangers.

I advertised for models who are then asked to make some decisions from their side of the camera, and to include a location special to them. There is always an excitement in the initial meeting - it is risky for both of us. This adds an insecurity, something like the feeling you have before a first date. You feel almost scared but often, when it is over you feel a sense of achievement.

I am focusing on ideas involving different degrees of control by the subject. Another current project includes sending a disposable camera through the post with simple directions to photograph yourself if you come into contact with it.
